January 2008 - USA Truck
Van Buren, AR
This month’s Featured Trucking Company is none other than USA Truck. Founded in 1989, USA Truck has consistently led the trucking industry in driver retention programs, recruiting efforts, and overall truck driver satisfaction. The company is headquartered in Van Buren, Arkansas, which sits right in the middle of USA Truck’s freight area. However, drivers for USA Truck can expect to see the entire country: the company does business in all 48 states and even the southern part of Canada.
USA Truck is an over-the-road medium haul trucking company, which means that its truck drivers remain on the road for up to 2 weeks at a time and drive about 900 miles per load. The company specializes in hauling general commodities and merchandise, so the type of freight that a driver hauls can be anything from toasters to glass to clothing. USA Truck’s customer list includes several Fortune 500 companies located all over the United States, so it’s no surprise that this trucking company has become stable and profitable in a constantly changing industry.
Although USA Truck may be a large corporation, it runs like a small office. Everyone at USA Truck knows that without their CDL licensed truck drivers, the company would never be able to operate, so their truckers are treated with great respect and admiration. Company driver Ray Gordon has nothing but positive things to say to anyone who’s considering a career with his company. “USA Truck is the best place to begin your career. I checked out several companies when I was ready to start my trucking career. USA Truck has the best offer overall – great pay, benefits, great people, and a paid CDL truck driver training program that helped me get my CDL. I couldn’t have asked for a better situation.”
Since its beginning, USA Truck has been committed to being the type of trucking company that any driver would love to work for. With a great pay scale, excellent benefits, and a truck driver training program that helps drivers earn their CDL, it’s no mystery why this profitable carrier is USA Truck Driving School’s first Featured Trucking Company for 2008!
USA Truck is a proud member of the Driver Solutions Network. Through its partnership with Driver Solutions, USA Truck offers a company-sponsored CDL training program with no upfront costs for entry level truck drivers. On average, Averitt’s drivers spend 5 days on the road and are routed home every weekend! This is almost unheard of for over-the-road drivers, especially for entry-level truckers who are just getting started. Besides its great home time, Averitt also prides itself in having limited touch freight that prevents drivers from having to load or unload their trucks for deliveries.
Averitt’s truck fleet consists of over 4,000 tractors and 11,000 trailers that travel to over 100 company-operated service centers around the country. Their largest division, Truckload, operates around 1,200 tractors with a fleet of Volvo, Freightliner, and Peterbilt machines that are an average of 3 years old or newer. Averitt also offers a company-sponsored CDL training program for those without any truck driving experience who wants to get started in the industry.
